Of course, "the revolution" could easily be hiding his death. If we don't get "proof of life" from him within a week, it'll be doubtful that he's still around.

I know I'm going to lose points here, but I hope he is not dead, yes he may be "El President" or what ever, but he is still a human and I wish him the best, I think that is because he's about my dads age and I know his family does not want to lose him either. The question is what has he really done but nationalize the island of Cuba and run off the people that were enslaving it's population, to my mind it was a one for one swap and we got to keep Ricky Richardo. I think he just wanted what was best for his people and got tied up with the wrong bunch of bullies, but I think after all was said and done he helped more than he hurt, at least he has educated his people and that's quite an acomplishment. I hope I have not offended anyone, but hell he's no worse than Bush.

It's rumor. The last update from AP was 20 minutes ago, and didn't mention anything about death. He just went through surgery, and in the meantime reliquished power temporarily to his brother Raul.

The last I heard he relinquished his power to his brother, because he is having surgery today. Hopefully he won't survive and there may be a good chance for a democracy in that country.

Castro is having surgery on his intestines, and many think he is very close to death.
