Baking Soda...
1 teaspoon in about 8 oz of water. I was suffereing from reflux for a while. Started taking this before bed or when needed...made a HUGE difference. Sometimes I'd have to take a second dose for the really severe problems. Try it though. Worked better than the over the counters that I had.

Patients with GERD or severe heartburn may instinctively try to swallow when they feel the symptoms of GERD, and they may get immediate relief at times. This is partially because of the neutralizing effect of saliva (which contains bicarbonate, a buffer) on stomach acid. Some people also get relief from milk, or products such as TUMS or other antacids. All of these contain buffers in the form of bicarbonate, which leads to neutralization of acid. Baking soda contains the same buffer.
Certainly baking soda and any of the previously mentioned neutralizing agents can be used to treat GERD. These medications are very safe to use in the recommended doses. However, stronger therapy is often needed because GERD is a chronic disorder and the symptoms tend to recur very frequently, often many times per day.

good luck!

probably have an ulcer and sounds like you also may have what's called a hyital hernia. this is when part of you stomach slips up through the pyloric sphincter which is the band around the top of your stomach and due to lost elasticity in this sphincter your stomach creeps up into your esophagus. it is very painful and lying down is the last thing you want to do. sitting up after meals for at least 30 minutes. sometimes people have to use wedge pillows to sleep on or raise the head of their bed. see a doctor though because there are treatments for this , the most invasive being surgery but hopefully you can get it calmed down with some medication and lots of education on the subject . it could be something else but only your doctor can tell you after running a few tests.

Tums, that is what I use. If you don't have that, you can try a little milk or ice cream, those do the trick as well. One of the things you should be doing is writing down what you eat, and what causes the issues. I have found that I can't eat chocolate, some cookies, depending on the ingredients. There are lots of little things that can set you off, so figure out what it is, and eliminate that from your diet. I went on a bland diet for a couple months, and after that I was a lot better.
Good luck.

If it's overacidity to blame, take a glass full of water, one TBSP of vinnegar, and one teaspoon of baking soda ( prefferably fresh, not the one you keep in the fridge).
But for your health I really advice you to find Papaya Enzimes, the natural ones, you'll find them in Health fod stores, or homeopathic remedies. It's not harmful to you, on the contrary.. You will love it.
Take 4 at the time and then evey 3-4 hours for a chronic heartburn condition. It will cure you. Zantac and Prilosec creates dependency..

Try drinking a glass of milk and eating a piece of bread. It would help soak up any acid in your stomach.
If it's a chronic problem you can talk to your doctor. There can be some serious complications from chronic heartburn.
My father had cancer in his esophogus caused by acid reflux.
