"Undefined, it's vertical," is kind of a good answer.
But a bit more refined answer would be to say "infinite" in the following sense... as you look at lines that are closer and closer to vertical, their slope increases without bound. In other words, you can find a near vertical line with a slope as large as you like. For example, you give me a big number -- say 1,000,000 -- and I'll give you a near vertical line with that slope. In fact, one such line has the equation ...
y = 1000000 x + 3000000
or solving for x
x = y/1000000 - 3
or, more generally, for slope m
y = mx + 3m
and therefore
x = y/m - 3
Note that as m (the slope) get bigger and bigger -- a million, a billion, a lollapaloozagazillion -- the term y/m gets smaller and smaller, and the equation gets closer and closer to simply
x = -3
That's the sense in which the slope of "x = -3" is "infinite."
Got that? There'll be a quiz in ten minutes! ;-)))

the slope is 0. if it was y = -3, then the slope would be undefined.

undefined, slope of a line is (tan q) where q is the angle from x axis. since this line is perpendicular to x axis, angle is 90 degrees. tan 90 is undefined.

y = mx+c
here x = -3 . so this is || yo y axis and so slope = infinite

meaning it is comparable to a downhill with 71degrees from the horizontal.
slope is just a tanget function...+ for uphill and - for downhill
