me and my boyfriend wants to get married when he turns 18. my family says he has to be legal, but his family has gotten married in the united states and they say that you do not have to be legal to get married in the united states. so my question is, do you have to be legal to get married in the united states?

No, he can always apply for a green card after 3 years of being married to you...but wait, he's only 18? Just how the heck old are you? You're both children. You shouldn't get married until you're in your mid-twenties with a stable job, and a plan for the future on how to build your family. Kids who marry with no idea what marraige is always ends up in divorce. Don't be one of them.

No you don't, but there will be a 2 year waiting period before he will be considered a citizen.

No. You can marry whoever you choose but it will not make him/her an automatic citizen.
