What can we do to make poverty history?
Because of people like you, leaders of the world’s richest countries met in July 2005 and made a number of historic promises to help end the kind of extreme poverty that is needlessly killing 9,000 people a day in Africa. Millions of lives and the future of a continent are at stake.

I admire Bono for his work on this issue. I think that the ONE campaign, the debt reduction campaign and the work with the G-8 is a very impressive step in the right direction.

OR....i can't conceive of a God who rewards and punishes his creatures, or has a will of the variety that we adventure in ourselves. Neither am i able to nor ought to i choose to conceive of a person who survives his actual lack of existence; enable feeble souls, from worry or absurd egoism, cherish such ideas. i'm satisfied with the secret of the eternity of existence and with the understanding and a glimpse of the bright structure of the prevailing international, which includes the dedicated striving to appreciate a element, be it ever so tiny, of the reason that manifests itself in nature.---Einstein
