I not only shattered my hunerous bone at the elbow but i broke it in two other places. I have a plate and nine screws still in my arm. After four weeks of being in a cast my doctor took it off so that i would not lose my mobility. It took a full year for most of the pain to go away and to get the strength back in in.. It has been two and a half years and it still occasionallly bothers me. I was 27 when it happened and now 29 and i have gotten used to the fact that it will never be the same. The only thing you can do is exercise it and hope the muscles will eventually stop hurting.

I would imagine that the muscles are weakened owing to lack of use while the bone healed. The result would be lactic acid build up whenever you try to do anything. You should be referred to a Physiotherapist to devise a plan for you to regain the strength in your arm. If you haven't been to Physio then go back to your GP and ask for some!! All the best!

The muscles hurt because you probably haven't used them in awhile, since in all likelihood the arm has been immobilized while the fracture healed. Due to the atrophy of the muscle in that arm and buildup of lactic acid in the muscle tissue, it is going to hurt to use for awhile, as well as fatigue very quickly.

Probably since you broke the bone the muscles have not regained their strength that they were prior to you breaking it. You have to work that muscle again and once that is back to normal it shouldn't hurt.

Yes, I broke my humorous bone once, and I couldn't tell any jokes until it healed.
