Internet Explorer:
Tools > Internet Options > Content Tab > Auto Complete Button > Clear Web Addresses. Uncheck the box that says Web Adresses to prevent future saving of this information.
Cookies have nothing to do with this.

On your PC, select START, then Control Panel, then Internet Options. From the Internet Options menu you can select Clear History and that will clear the web addresses from your address bar ;)
If you really want to clear everything, also from the Internet Options menu you can select Delete Cookies and Delete Temporary Internet Files :)
