no you need to practice. Most places will have a tray you can carry them on. If you just have 2 at the table that will be fine. I could usually get 3 or 4 in one hand but if it was more than 3 I liked useing a tray. You can also stack the dishes on your arms overlap the plates not crushing the food & you can get up to maybe 3 plates on one arm then use your other arm for 1 plate so you can hand them off.

Everyone is nervous at first. It's just a matter of gaining experience and feeling comfortable which takes time. You will learn to balance your tray, fairly quickly. Don't worry about it. Just do your best. I'm sure there's not a waitress out there who hasn't dropped a tray. Just clean it up and move on, laugh about it a little. good luck. I wouldn't suggest carrying the drinks in your hand. Only because then you aren't learning or getting experience using a tray. You need to jump in and have the attitude of I want to do this and do it right and do it well, and I want to learn the right way. It's a challenge and I want to face it.

start with two at a time if you need to. But carring them on a tray will come natural to you. I did it. you will learn to set them where they wont til over . And carry the tray with two hands until you get the hang of it. Good Luck

I think they look more at efficiency than at the number of drinks you can hold in your hand. Then again, use both hands to carry the tray; they don't spill unless they're filled to the rim.

It's quite alright at first, but after a few weeks, you'll be able to carry three in each hand with no problem. They'll teach you, don't worry. -Lella^_^
