I think the most important thing to keep in mind is YOU.
Think of all your interests & ask yourself if any of those could be expanded into a business. Just keep in mind...what's your expertise? What are your interests? What could you imagine yourself doing?
By researching the prospect of starting your own business -- what it entails, what you need to know, helpful hints, etc -- you'll feel better prepared to take that plunge.
I found some book titles that are relevant to your specific question:
* 101 Internet Businesses You Can Start from Home by Susan Sweeney
* The Best Home Businesses for the 21st Century by Paul Edwards
* Selling Online: How to Become a Successful E-Commerce Merchant by Jim Carroll
* I Could Do Anything If I Only Knew What It Was: How to Discover What You Really Want and How to Get It by Barbara Sher
* I Don't Know What I Want, But I Know It's Not This: A Step-by-Step Guide to Finding Gratifying Work by Julie Jansen
I also posted some article links in the source box.
Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

That's a very good approach. I went into the 'printing' business because there will always be a need for documents. My friend 'Ever' does 'home improvements as someone will always want it and both jobs are portable (we can take them with us;).
Other thoughts may be: Transportation services or Lawn care.
For now, the list seems to go on and on.. But in the future the Food and Medical services may be the most called for.

People like to spend a lot of money on their braty spoiled kids. Start an expensive birthday party place where kids can come in, have a party, play with each other. A different theme in each room. Parents will pay or they'll feel they haven't given their kids the BEST possible. CHARGE THE CRAP OUT OF THEM-NO DISCOUNTS-this is the key-you must be expensive.

More scrapbooking stores. I know it sounds kind of lame to most men, but as far as I know..scrapbooking is something lots of women do and we could use more places that sell everything you could possibly need along with providing like scrapbooking classes and tutorials in the shop. I think your artistic talents would help a lot in that. If not..hey...it's just my opinion :P

I'd like to see more affordable day spas...Its ashame we have to pay so much to look so glam even though its worth it. It makes me learn how to perfect hair and beauty on my own so I stay home and do it myself but often I don't feel like it and would rather pay someone else to do it.
