Absolutely, but you may never hear that apology because then he would have to admit he lied before Congress as well as to the fans.

I think the ultimate justice here is that McGwire's HR record only lasted 3 years. Maris's record lasted 37 years (4 years longer than Ruth's) and never really had a serious challenge until the mid 90s. I think Roger Maris should be given more consideration for the HOF.

Maybe morally he should, but everything he did was technically legal at the time, and he's never actually denied it. If he wants any chance of being in the HOF then he should, but that may not cut it. He has no real reason to that would benefit him personally.
Giambi apologized (without saying exactly what he apologized for) and now all seems to be forgiven. However, he is still an active player, and doesn't want to retire early or have his image totally ruined.

people need to leave mark alone. he is not in the game anymore, and is not costing anybody anything. If he took anything, it was not illegal at the time. Everyone does something to give themselves an advantage. In the olympics, they say you need a coach, trainer and a lawyer. The bottom line is, he did not break any laws. How many people in the hall of fame got one hit or made one play with the help of an artificial substance, the answer is many people, only no one goes after them, just Mark, Barry and Pete Rose.

You can thank Donald Trump in his book "The Art of the deal" where essentially he says its OK to lie- and this book came out over 20 years ago.

Besides, fans are stupid- he's got the money, he's got the women- why should he care what his "fans" think?

Seriously- he's set for life, why should he care?

no heres why... EVERYONE KNEW he was on andro. When he took it, it was legal. And secondly, he never lied. At no point in his career or after his career has he lied. He pled the fifth and said "the past is the past." The person that should be apologizing is rafael Palmero. He lied and did it blatantly.
