Probably there will always be terrorists to a greater or lesser extent, even if a society is just. They are sick people and we should not let them run the show. Their actions are nothing more than a personal war, so we should not be stupid and let them manipulate the rest of us. Follow the examples of Martin Luther King and Gandhi!
Justice is another matter, and needs to be addressed on a national and local level, with the help of courts and international forums. We should support the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court, when crimes cross borders between countries. The key is rule of law for any society, not mob law.

When dealing with terrorists war only fans the flames of hate and killing. War should only be used in defense situations because otherwise it winds up getting turned in the favor of the terrorists. I read people's comments on here all the time "if we hadn't stopped Hitler then where would we be".

Well that was 60 some years ago, battle lines were clear, the enemy wore uniforms and it just cannot be compared. It has been proven time and time again that war does not provide lasting solutions with terrorists.

You can no more wage war on terrorists than you can perform sygery with a broadsword, because you don't know who the terrorists are. You have to kill terrorism at the level that spawns it, which is generally the distribution of wealth and power. There really aren't any rich terrorists... When you have nothing, and no hope, it is a simple matter to strap a bomb to yourself and take out people you think are causing the problem.

It has nothing to do with religious idealism, although the lower intelligence and educated people are more prone to an assualt from this level since they are gullible.

You cannot impose "justice" on those who have no concept of justice. Terrorists are barbarians and nothing more, and the only thing they understand is barbarism. Like the Vikings, the Goths, the Vandals, and Mongol hoards, the terrorists need to be eradicated from human existence, and the only way to do so (as history has repeatedly shown) is through force.

You don't need to have a war and kill innocent people who really have nothing to do with the problem. You need to have justice in your government in order to have peace. When you achieve this in your government you spread the word properly and thus others will follow in the movement.

The term "terrorist" is a loaded word and one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.

The American public is largely ignorant of the damage wrought by America's "secret wars" conducted by the CIA (how many of the dozens can you name?) that has turned much of the world against us.

The Arab world sees the US and Israel as terrorist regimes for the same reasons we consider other countries terrorist regimes--both sides commit murder against each other.

The American Revolution was fought by guerrilla-style insurgents if you'll recall, fighting in the same way that we call "cowardly" now and England surely called cowardly then.

Since the terrorists have waged war against the free world, the free world must fight back... This enemy wants to kill everyone who does not believe as they do (fascism) and rule the world (imperialism, domination). So, appeasement is not possible. Negotiation is not possible.

We must fight back until they are wiped out. No less. It is unfortunate but necessary. If we truly believe that all people have the right to live free, then we must fight to the end to ensure our freedom.

Terrorists are cockroaches, not a country. You don't declare war on cockroaches, you decimate them with all haste.

How can the world hesitate to blot out the scum that pull out a machete and saw the head off a living man on TV?

Hey, ceprn: Osama Ben Laden is a multi-millionaire, didn't you know that? "Oppressed and impoverished", my a$$.

You can't defeat terrorists through war. All you do is bombard the country in which they are hiding so instead you kill innocents. If terrorists were hiding in the US do you think the US government would bombard the country until they killed them?
