Well, if he really IS on his Death Bed, i say YIPEE!!

For far too long we have allowed that pis-ant island country be a thorn in our sides.

Perhaps the US can help lobby for someone hald decent to replace him, then we can lift the sanctions and buy cuban cigars legally (and cheaper)

Besides, Cuba is a beautiful island, and it would be great to be able to visit someday without being armed (last time i was there was to the GTMO base when in the US Navy)

First and foremost,I feel sad for those who are close to him: relatives and friends.
Secondly, when Fidel Castro will have passed away, it'll be the end of an era for many people in Cuba. I hope his death won't be the cause of instability in the country.
Whatever I think about his political opinions is irrelevant. I think it's outrageous to wish someones death because you don't agree on politics ...

Old. I remember when the U.S. backed him in his overthrow of the previous dictator. The U.S. trained him and supplied him (they did the same thing with Saddam during the cold war).

I hope it leads to a better relationship with Cuba, but will the U.S. government ever learn that playing world politics can turn around and bite us in the A** ? Too many times we have supported the lesser of two evils only to have the tables turn on us later.
