my mom makes me turn off the rock but i need it to concentrate on homewrok seriously?

What should i do the only way i can get my homework done before midnight is by listening to some punk rock or heavy metal or just plain old rock but my mom makes me turn it off and stuff and trys to make me listen to classical but that hurts my head and then i cant do homework at all i have like a.d.d or something and with out the music i can concentrate

I know what you mean! I need background noise to work well. However, your mom may think the music (which is usually best loud, no?) is just distracting you from your work. Or maybe she just doesn't want to hear it too. Maybe she thinks punk destroys brain cells.

Whatever the reason, maybe you can propose a compromise.

If she thinks it's distracting to you, maybe you can ask her to give you the opportunity to prove her wrong. She could give you a puzzle or something to figure out and time you, with and without the music of your choice.

If she just doesn't want to hear it, invest in some headphones.

If she thinks the music is destroying your ability to think.... well, it may be a battle, but you can always tell her I got my Masters (in Curriculum and Instruction) listening to classic punk every night as I wrote my thesis.

The important thing is to find out why she is against the music and work it out from there. Really listen to her concerns, too, just like you want her to listen to you.

PS~ I don't think you have ADD. Wanting to listen to music while working is very common. Ask any office worker.

I have never understood how anyone can convince themselve that they can learn new informatin better by submersing themselves in lots of unrelated noise.... is this a psychlogical disorder perhaps??

i would say you should start listenfig to rap..thats the best music to keep you awake...but if ur mom is being an *******, then i would recommend you do your homework in the school library
