Was there an intense focus on "German casualties" by the prevailing media(print and radio) during WW2? I sort of doubt it.

In the press today I don't think so. You hear about anything Israel hits it shouldn't be hitting and every time there are Lebanese civilians hit the rest of the story is never told. And that is why were the Israelis shooting in to that area.

During WWII the stories about Tokyo and Dresden spring to mind.

No, most to the media is anti-Israeli and it shows daily.
Also the terrorist called Hezbollah, Hamas, and the PLO use the media to their good!
