i don't think people necessarily hate the Kennedys, except for Ted, of course. There's just a lot of mystery and intrigue surrounding them - well, except for Ted, of course.

Can you say entitlement? Do you think if you drove a car off a bridge with someone in it and swam to safety leaving that person and not telling anyone until the next day you would get a slap on the wrist? How about all the cops circling their wagons around you? The question shouldn't be why do people hate them but why do some people like them? These are the people who would be happy to have a monarch then a democracy because they need someone to rule them. There are also people out there who don't care what the Kennedy's or other celebrities do to other people as long as it isn't them and it doesn't effort them. I call them ***-kissers

Not everybody hates the Kennedy's. If you see an abundance of people hating the Kennedy's, it is probably you reading the media. Negative media ALWAYS supercedes positive media. You will read 10 negative things about something and only 1 good thing about something - even if the good thing is actually more abundant.
THAT BEING SAID:
One reason people hate the Kennedys is because they killed Marilyn Monroe AND got away with it. Some people just hate to see other people have that kind of power!!!

Some people probably dislike them because they epitomize the dark side of money and power. Not withstanding the contributions they have made to America, take a look at some of the dark historical facts about the family.
- Several Kennedys have been caught abusing drugs/alcohol, but have yet to be brought to justice for the destruction they leave in their path, (property destruction and even death).
- They have taken one mans success, and after his demise, through partying and irresponsibility, have sqandered much of his legacy. The Kennedy estate has depreciated in to shambles. Apparently, it has not even dawned on any of the Kennedy successors to spread a coat of paint.
-Others I'm not inclined to go in to.
I suppose that if you are not turned off by the thought of the wealthy and powerful families having a different set of standards to live by than the commoner, you would not care about them. Others find that a turn off.

I don't think it is hate; it is more like being resentful of the Kennedys. The Kennedys are born into a life of elegance and luxury. 95% of the rest of Americans work hard to have a small amount of the good life. There is over 40% of Americans that will never climb out of poverty. Ted Kennedy told a gathering that he feels their pain. But in reality, he will never know or even come close to feeling anything close to their pain.

There are people in our society who will criticize anything, anyone, anytime.
the Kennedy's had (have) a great deal in their lives (both good and tragic). When someone looks as if they have a lot of good in their life, it brings out jealous, small minded people who thrive on criticizing and gossip.
Plus, there is money to be made in marketing critical books, magazine articles, etc,. to these people, so the headline grabbing "journalists" will jump on the negative bandwagon to make a name for themselves.
The only "fair" area would be to knowledgably debate JFKs or Sen Kennedy's politics. Otherwise, true class (not tabloid mentalities) lets them have their private lives.

I think it's because people are jealous. They are one of America's "golden families". They have every opportunity and they use them. People also feel that they use their power to get themselves out of any bad situations they get themselves into. No one stops to think that if they were born into a family like that, they would do the same things. Jealousy causes hatred most of the time.

It's a mix of envy and wanting misery to have company.
They had so much - money, power, acclaim - for so long and were considered "golden", American "royalty", Camelot that to have them taken down a peg seems right and proper to some people.
