You should talk to a doctor about going on the pill. It is not a miracle cure. It may alleviate the pain but not for everyone. Also you may get side-effects from the pill as it is basically putting extra hormones into your body. You may gain weight, have mood swings, you may have spotting between your periods. Also you have to bear in mind that the pill is not 100% effective. Both my sisters have gotten pregnant whilst on the pill. You should always use condoms to protect against STD's as you cannot be sure that you or your partner do not have one.

In answer to the having sex bit it is illegal to have sex under the age of 16. Also please please don't let anyone pressure you into having sex before you are ready. And don't believe what people tell you about the first time being perfect...it will hurt! Only you will know when you are ready to have sex but a good bit of advice is to wait until you are totally sure and to make sure it is with someone you care for.

Going on the pill is a great idea if you need to alleviate period pains, don't want to become pregnant and you want to have sex. There are many different birth control pills out there. Birth control pills usually reduce cramping, pains, and heavy periods. Some women have side effects and some women don't. Consult a doctor about getting a prescription for birth control pills. I have been on birth control for 6 years and I am currently on Yasmin. I have no side effects, light to moderate periods, and no pain.

Yes. I've been on the pill for the past 3 years & it's been great. I used to have horrible cramps before but do not now that I'm on it. As for using it for preventing pregnancy, it is also a good idea but take precautions. For it to be most effective you MUST take it at the same time every day & do NOT miss any pills. (Example: I take mine at 12:30 every day cause it's in the middle of my lunch hour at work). If you do not take it on time you are still ok if you take it within the hour of the time you normally do. Just a word of caution though....the pill or any type of birth control is NOT 100% effective so I would still advise using condoms too. If you have any other questions it would be best to ask your ob/gyn...they would be most knowledgeable about the subject.

Depending on you age Yes. You just need to ask your self are you and your boyfriend ready to have sex.

The Pill is great for periods, Im on Microgynon 30, it regulates my periods, I have no pain and there alot lighter.

Also me and my boyfriend have been having sex for 2 years now and no babies have appeared.

The Pill can also be bad though, It can cause weight gain, mood swings, lack of sexual interest, It can also cause serious problems like thrombosis. Just make sure you want to do this. Remember its your body, your choice.

There is a non contraceptive pill to help with periods and you could just use condoms if you wish.

Depends how old are you?
Its ok to go on the pill for periods and still have sex but personally i would use other protection ASWELL because the pill wont protect you from STD's but will stop you getting pregnant.
Talk to your doctor or a nurse if you are worried.
Edit: going on the pill will def help with periods, make them regular and less painfull i think. good luck.

Hormonal birth control should always be a last option for women as birth control or to deal with health problems, hormonal birth control is an excessive means of contraception, it works essentially by suppressing your menstrual cycle meaning that your knowledge of your reproductive cycle is limited and it can cause many side effects, not just those commonly known such as weight gain, but side effects such as nesting that can effect you psychologically. This is particularly an issue if you are in your teens given as menstrual cramps can lessen as you get older and your attitude change, this is also just the time when you need to learn about your body, not shut it up with the pill.

Certainly hormonal birth control used for menstrual problems is overkill, unless you are suffering from a serious health problem that is causing you menstrual cramps such as endometriosis using hormonal birth control to deal with menstrual cramps is like swatting a fly with an A-bomb. There are a lot of ways you can prevent, cure or at very least deal with menstrual cramps and other menstrual problems without putting extra hormones into your body to suppress your cycle – methods such as simple diet changes, change in attitude towards your periods, using mild herbal remedies before you period and so on – if you look at books at your local library or look online you will find a lot of cures for menstrual cramps that are not nearly as extreme.

I would say you should wait to have sex until you are better educated about your body and birth control, also of course until you are using some sort of birth control or better still condoms to help protect you from unwanted pregnancy or/and STD's.

My daughter has recently gone on the pill to reduce period pain (It works, so she says) but has decided not to tell her boyfriend, so he continues to use condoms.

Blimey, she must have got her common sense from my side of the family... ;-)
