i agree! uk bands are punky, anti establishment youth, ruffer and tuffer but still pull off sweet melodies with a sense of humour and style.they couldn't give a toss and THAT is what makes a great rock band!u.s bands sound like country rock pro government dazzling toothed wannabes who take themselves far too seriously and offer nothing to youth!

While I do think the late 60s and early 70s was dominated with British rock bands, before the Beatles made it big there was almost no big British bands (In America). Rock was dominated by Elvis and Chuck Berry Music. It seems as though the British Invasion happened and lots of British artists rose up on the scene. The reality is most of these British bands were trying to emulate American music sounds (have you ever heard a song sung with a TRUE British accent?). While they all had slight British touches, the only band I can think of that wasn't trying to be American is The Kinks. While most of my favorite bands are British, there are some good American bands out there. I think if you are looking at this period of time in rock history it may seem that British bands are dominant, but in reality they are just trying to sound American. Most of my favorite bands are British but I won't write a band off because they aren't.

Well... I agree... Somewhat... There are some awesome American bands (example: The Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Doors, Bob Dylan, Big Brother and the Holding Company... I could go on...)
But a lot of those British bands are playing music that originated in America or was influenced by American music. The Rolling Stones started out as a blues band, which is an American musical genre. They're named after a Muddy Waters song! Cream is another heavily blues-influenced band. And, of course, the Beatles remade quite a few Chuck Berry songs.
Plus it's really ignorant of you to say something like that...

Britain produced good rock bands 25 years ago, now America and Germany have the best bands. System of a Down, Rammstien, Slipknot, Nirvana(rock not punk), Metallica, Sevendust, all American and German.

That is so not a fact. Never mind that America is the birthplace of blues and rock and all those Brit bands shamelessly rip off American roots music. Clapton, Stones, Beatles, the list goes on and on....

For every good british rock band, I can name an equally bad one. Same is true for the USA, and Canada, and Australia, and any other country. Your so called "fact" is skewed.

That's an illusion. We like British rock, the Brits like American rock. You just want something different.
