It's a cotton shirt and I was eating corn on the cob and got butter stains on it. My wife washed it twice, used SHOUT and TIDE...still stained?

Try baking soda made into a paste this is an old old trick but a lot of times it still works for grease stains.
Baking soda
couple drops of water
Make sure the item is damp first.
paste it over that spot and vigerously rub together.
add a couple more drops of water.
the whole idea is to get the baking soda to run through the fabric at that spot. let set to completely dry. throw into a washer with laundry detergent and vineger. it should be out then.

If not then just run some gasoline on in and it should just run right off. And same thing as above use the vineger wash after that.
Thanks,

Baby powder of flour on the shirt should soak up the oils from the butter. I dont know how well this will work because you have already attepmted to wash the shirt. But baby power on an oil stain works wonders before washing. Let it set in for a couple of hours.
Good Luck

It's as simple as "dish washing liquid".

It will get butter and oil stains out, however, if the stains has been there for some time, I am not sure it will work, but it's worth a try.

When stained, try apply the dish washing liquid asap....

If it is already washed and dried twice, than the shirt is as good as a washcloth, in the future though, when the stain is fresh, put talcum powder on it, it will absorb the grease let dry and then pretreat with tide and let set and then soak in cold water.

It probably won't come out. Butter is mostly grease. The thing with grease stains is, unless you get that stain immediately with dish soap (squeeze a little on the spot and start rubbing the fabric together under warm tapwater) it is nearly impossible to remove. Good luck.

Butter is considered one of the most difficult stains to remove. All you will need is a soft sponge, warm water, shampoo, and some grease solvent. Apply a small amount of grease solvent to the stain and let dry. It won't take long for this to happen. Then take the sponge, apply some warm water and a bit of shampoo and gently lift the stain.

I was putting my grocery's away one day, and I dropped the whole tub of butter on the floor. When it landed the lid popped off and all the butter landed on the bottoms of my pants. I put dishwashing soap on it and the greasy mess is gone off of my pants. I used Dawn dishsoap and let it set for a couple of days.

Buy a stain devil that gets out butter stains, and next time wear a bib.

put dry shampoo on your shirt..(.the powerdered stuff that you get in cans or bottles and you rub in your hair and brush out)....rub the dry shampoo in then brush it off...then try washing the shirt....the dry shampoo will lift all the grease from the shirt that is causing the butter stains...so the stain should come right out...
