Don't worry about what's in style and what's not. It's not worth it. There are some things that are REALLY out of style like legwarmers and spandex but if you see an awesome pair of jeans or a shirt you like, grab it. If it's what they say "Soooo five minutes ago" who cares, you like em.

Why not make a fashion statement? Start a new trend by making your clothes look cool. Use jewerly to dress up your clothes, thats what I do and it really shows because even my teachers and kids I don't even know compliment on my bags, jewerly, and shoes. You can find cheap jewerly at Clarie's or thrift shops, if you're on a budget for money. Otherwise, you can find cute stuff anywhere-you just gotta look and find the stuff that's YOU.

Also, you could try going shopping with a group of friends that your Mom is familiar with and knows their parents. I always introduce my friends' parents to my parents b4 going anywhere with them, that way my parents are reassured that I'll be OK. I also always bring my cellphone and have it on just in case!

Go with your friends. If you're old enough get a job so it'll be your money you're spending, not hers. Or do chores around the house and get an allowance. When you do go shopping, look for good deals and sales, don't buy the most expensive things just because they're in style. It'll show your mom that you can be responsible with money.

Ask her if you can go shopping with her. Show her some of the magazines and let her see what is in style and what you would like. Some parents give kids a credit card with a limit on it and they can only spend that amount. It is good training for how to handle money and credit. Tell her that she can have final approval on what you buy.

When you do buy clothes, buy stuff that won't go out of style. Don't get the weird trends that'll go away quickly. Plain tops that you can layer will last a while. I've had most of my clothing for years, and I can still wear them. It's all about choices. When you're old enough, get a part-time job so that you can earn your own money and buy what you want.

New fashions are out of style the moment they walk down the runway. Fashion is for people who are not sure of themselves or for people who want to sell clothes. Wear what you like. You are in style if you are comfortable with yourself.

Stop following the trends, and start your own. Back when I was in school, when Joan Jett's nostril ring was a shocker, I wore a pierceless septum ring. I was into MORPG's before they were called such, but, rather, "door games". My grandma-in-law started the "body bag"/"kangaroo pouch" when she was a teen. My mom-in-law started the trend of men's high-top sneakers for women. I wear an ear-chain that runs from my helix piercing to my front lobal piercing.

Do something new and unique, instead of trying to be like everyone else. Have people look up to you, instead of you looking up to them. Nothin' in the world quite like bein' the leader instead of the follower.

I think fashion is more about HOW you wear the clothes than what they are. Just make them look different by accessorizing with nice items or adding a little funky touch like a color you might not expect with a matching outfit.

You could shop online or you could ask your mum if you can have some material to make your own clothes and stuff. She'll be super-impressed that you want to do something so creative(well she ought to be) and then you can keep loads of material to make the best stuff and even set your own trends. As long as you keep one or teo basics, classics like jeans and stuff in case of emergencies, you should be ok.

Tell your my that when you let me go shopping the clothes you want are already out of style and I don't want to look dumb in front of your friends and classmates.
