Hopefully you don't use that much makeup during the day. For formal affairs, go a little bit more dramatic. I use natural colors for everyday, and brighter more colorful stuff for evenings and special occasions. It's really a personal preference, but most women won't wear tons of bright colors during the day since it looks so harsh in sunlight. But at night, the bright colors are toned down in the low lighting.

I don't understand your question... do you mean formal by formal steps to do?? You can't skip the first one with applying a good day cream before putting any kind of make-up. I do skip the foundation just use little concealer and of course a good loose translucent powder. Day or everyday makeup should be light in application and look natural.. but for evening you should accentuate your eyes and lips... Hope it help!

By "everyday makeup" we usually think of mascara, a little bit of lip-gloss or a light foundation, if you have skin problems. But in formal situations, make up should be a little bit more "expressive", which means a good foundation, blusher, darker shades of lipsticks or lip glosses...In formal situation, the goal is to look elegant, decent, like you have really put on an effort to your looks, but not too much,

formal makeup is very different from everday makeup. if you only put a little bit of eyeshadow here and eyeliner there then that's everyday makeup. for formal makeup you wear colors that make you stand out and that makes you look elegant.
everday makeup are light colors and formal makeup are dark colors.

You definitely put much more make up for formal compared to everyday. And you definitely spend more time to put it more nicely, and all.
It's like how formal clothes is different from everyday clothes. You just tend to dress up more.
At least that's how I see it.

everyday makeup is simple & not so extravagant or out-there. everyday makeup is like what you would wear to work. formal is like what you would wear to a dance, wedding or even on a night out on the town to clubs or something.

Formal make-up is heavier and darker. Everyday make-up is fresh and light.
