Some might answer that many of the men from history you've mentioned were brilliant politically, even if we do not believe in their motives. Hitler, for instance, a man we consider to be a monster, worked his way into dictatorship from nothing. His large-scale economic turnaround, couple with his racist finger-pointing, led to nationwide extreme prejudice and the mass genocide of thousands of people. Politically, he was very smart. Bush could never pull off such a political about-face.

Don't get me wrong, I think Hitler was a monster. I in no way condone what he did. But historically, he (and many of the others you mentioned) were NOT stupid men.

Well, none of those leaders are what I would consider to be stupid. Napoleon Bonaparte demonstrated knowledge of military tactics that is still studied to this day at military academies. Stalin, Hitler, and Mussolini are also studied to this day for thier ability to seize an oppourtunity and rally the people behind them.

No, he seems to be less competent than any of them. He doesn't have a clue what he is doing and takes orders from Cheney. It's my opinion that Bush has no interest in governing - he's much too busy clearing brush at the ranch, riding his bike and posing for photo ops. He's a frat boy that never grew up and has failed at every job he's ever had including the current one. At least Napoleon and the other dictators enjoyed some military and political successes prior to their fall from grace.

It's kind of a new level. Bonaparte and Hitler lost their great wars in Russia.

They were not stupid. Just plain crazy and surrounded by even crazier guys (with the exception of Stalin, he was the only master of puppets in the USSR back then, and EVERYONE was scared shitless of him, even his "close friends").

Are you liberal democrats as fixated on Bush and willfully ignorant of the truth and therefore transparent to the rest of us as a picture window? - Yes
