Well, your Doctor said to wait 2 weeks after your missed period. So call back and make an appointment for now, since your 7 weeks past your missed period. DUH...Oh God, what a ride that child will have. US tax dollars at work...AGAIN

It really bugs me when doctors make rules about when they'll see patients who discover they are pregnant! In some delicate cases, a patient should be seen and have blood work immediately - so their staff should not brush off anyone who calls. If you've ever had a miscarriage before, or if you've conceived despite irregular periods, then I'd insist on seeing the doctor right away! A good doc will order a quantitative HCG blood pregnancy test and a progesterone draw!

If, however, you are in good general health and are taking pre-natal vitamins then when you call the office again they will most likely make an appointment for you when you are about 8-10 weeks pregnant. By this time your doctor can frequently detect the baby's heartbeat using a Doppler...

Congratulations & best wishes!

Generally they want to see you after you second missed period. This is because of many different issues that may come up such as early miscarriages and false pregnancies and other issues that often happen during this time. There isn't a lot the doctor can do for you during this time. If you have talked to your doctor about having a baby and she has already prepped everything like she did for me (I'm taking prenatal already and have had all the tests) then it is safe to wait till at least week 8. If you haven't had any of these tests and you aren't taking prenatals, then it would be a good idea to make a visit before hand.

I dont see why she even told you that. As long as you got a positive pregnancy test, they should make an appt for you to see the nurse. Call them back to make an appointment, I called right away with my postitive pregnancy test and got in within a week. Now I am 15 weeks along with my third child.

Okay, you first need positive pregnancy test. Then you need to wait until 2 weeks after the missed period before calling. They usually want you to wait until 11/2 before seeing you for first appointment. This changes though when the mom to be is high risk pregnancy or is having complications.

Normally a doctor would want to see you imediately to get you startedon prenatal vitamins and make sure you are eating right and doing everything that you can. If the doctor wants to wait until you are two weeks late on your period then figure out when your period was last then 6 weeks after that date you would likely be 2 weeks late.
You should go to the doctor sooner rather than later.

I went at about 10 weeks pregnant. You need to call at least by next week to make an appointment. Usually the pregnancy confirmation is free. They just have you pee in a cup and put the stick in and say "yup, your pregnant."

Most dr offices dont make appts for pregnancy test.. but I would go ahead and make your appt if thats the way the do it.. I would go at 4 weeks late.. Stress can also cause your period to come late...

What a stupid doctor. You should go to a different doctor. Just drop in for a pregnancy test & once they confirm that you're pregnant then they will talk to you about the pregnancy.
