It's a follower of Judaism. It's also used as an ethnicity. But the two aren't always the same.

"Jewish" can refer to either an ethnic group (race) or a religious group.

According to the Bible, the original Jews were both: one ethnic group with one religion. Later, people from other ethnic or religious groups could convert to Judaism. Thus, you could have a black Jew or an Arab Jew.

Some people today are Jews by birth, even if they're not religious, and others are Jews by religion, even if they're not Jews by birth. And others are Jews by birth and religion.

To clarify a bit more, an Israeli is a citizen of the country of Israel, no matter what their religion (although Israel considers itself a Jewish country).

Definitely not a race. I am an anglosaxon American Jew.

It is a religion for those who wish to worship God, and/or a nationality of people who have been born into or have been "naturalized" citizens of Israel (people). The word Israel means both the State or land of Israel as well as the people, Israel. Citizens of the State of Israel are Israelis.
