My DS has been asked to join a christian band as bass player. We've brainstormed all sorts of ideas. I'm a photographer on the side, so I am going to do a photo session.

Then, I'm going to go to my fave site, The Hot Tees ( http://www.thehottees.com ) There is a banner at the bottom of the page that is flashing and says *free set up *free stores. You can try setting up a shop for FREE! It's really good. We've set up one for the kids, but haven't officially opened it yet cuz we haven't done the photo shoot yet. The company that The Hot Tees goes through has been around for quite a while and they handle all the customer service, credit card handling, products, etc. You just make the designs, upload them, and pick out the products that you want to offer that design on. They have mugs, shirts, stickers, thongs, sweatshirts, yadda, yadda, yadda.

We are also going to upload their music and sell their cd's from our site. That's good if you don't have a record deal yet. At least we can get some of their music out there. You will love it.

Oh, and don't forget to set up a blog and join myspace! Use the URL's in your sig when you post on forums.

Have a drive to earn money for a worthy cause such as collecting aluminum cans and giving the money to a homeless mission or medical research. Even if you make little money, your band can provide the entertainment and you can advertise free by public service announcements on radio and tv. Don't forget the stations you don't like as the people who can help your success may not be the ones who are into your type of music.

Try to play at as many places as possible. You can get a big following that way. Then you move up to bigger venues, then to an audition for a record company. That's what happened to Van Halen. Played at backyard parties, prom dances, then moved up to bars. Next thing you know, Jump was on the radio. Also, make flyers advertising where you are playing. Put them up at local record stores.

You better get a myspace site for the band. Try to friend as many locals as possible by finding common musical interests and sexy young girls. Team up with other local bands. Always rock.

Send a copy of your music to local radio stations you think may play your music. The station I listen to has just started doing a weekly programme where they just play music from up and coming acts in the city.

Assuming you yourself are in a band, if there are pubs or nightclubs in your area where other bands play, give them some general information about your band, including contact details of someone in the band whom the pub or nightclub can get in touch with, and say you'd be willing to play there.

If you own your own P.A. System , you will be more in-control of things . Many "Up-STARTS" do not have one ( they are too busy spendin' all their money on fancy guitars & amps) You can then arrange Rock Shows . the rest is needed , too , T-shirts CD's , Posters , Pictures .
