I would say generally...again GENERALLY ...Liberals tend to become a way more emotional and often use name callings and cursing. Conservatives listen and calmly debate without getting all warped up, and still be LOGICAL AND COURTEOUS....

Finally an easy question resting upon a GREAT TRUTH!

YES: Mature Conservatives are better debaters than green (immature) liberals. I didn't put in listeners, because you can't debate without listening and putting yourself in the the other persons shoes.

THE PROBLEM IS NOT EMOTIONS; Most conservatives, generally Republican, are by nature Perfectionists. Most liberals, generally Democrats, are by nature Opportunists.

This personality split between the parties and their bent is why Republicans center around Policy and a Democrat always ends up with a Program. Remember of confusion caused by
little Willy when he started espousing Policy and stole the Republicans thunder? The Demos were all upset and confused too, because he violated the basic mind sets of both camps.

People clump by emotions, not by true understanding.
A Republican in general never met a policy he didn't like. He will set policy and patiently wait for his money. A democrat goes straight to programs because he is an opportunist and can't put off his reward. And that friends is the operational psychology of this great nation.

Notice all the conservative talk people on radio and TV but no successfull liberal shows??? (I mean no shows which have a theme as opposed to random complaint) Why is this? Just because of what I have told you. The Democrats, totally without this revelation of the Republican Achilles heel, have never been able to mount a good long-term talk show. They do not see what I have just told you about Republicans and have never quite understood or trusted their own motives.

So here it is in a nutshell - The Revelation of 2006

Conservative = Perfectionist = policy = Republican
Liberal = Opportunist = program = Democrat

If you really study and apply the lesson I have just given; you will be able to do long range general forecasts of governmental activity and party response at all levels.

Of course you must also have the revelation that a bill is something that they send you for payment, not something designed to make you happy.

Amen to the name calling by liberals. They detest it when anyone has a different opinion than theirs, truly the most intolerant people I have ever seen..just posted a question and liberal hate started rolling in today...have no idea what was said..I just stop reading when I see the first hateful name..never takes long either. I did amuse myself to read one that said I would regret my views once I was drafted or some such rot and was too young to know better. What a joke. Sadsack liberal has no idea who he/she is talking to and looks like an idiot. I am 55, retired military war veteran, edcuated at three of the finest universities on the globe and have tons of experience those bozos will never have. Debate one? I wouldn't give one the time of day until he showed something more than dog blather.

--I am a Republican, with conservative leanings and I disagree with part of your statement. Republicans too tend to get wrapped up in emotional debate. Abortion, stem-cell research and capital punishment to name a few. Though I tend to agree with you on the liberals and their faith in 1930s and 60s dogma that no longer holds the same amount of grainage.
The biggest problem with both groups is their inability to listen, to contemplate others positions in a multitude of differing opinions. An example of this is when I attended the National Collage Republican Convention many years ago and fought for Roe v. Wade and abortion rights. I was verbally threatened and recieved letters from Republican leaders to keep my opinions to myself and not cause disharmony. As life has progressed I have had a different take on abortion but that was through my own volition and many discussions with sympathetic and non-sympathetic adults. What they are today is of no consequence to this debate but there is a general failure to listen on both sides of the aisle.

Like EVERYTHING in life, it DEPENDS ON THE INDIVIDUAL.
Liberal And Conservative are just Vague Generalizations, labels given to DIVIDE us so that those who are really in power can stay there. Who really falls PERFECTLY into those rolls? NO ONE!
I find that if someone (Liberal, or Conservative) has found their wiews through an open mind and their own experiences, they tend to be better at debating. Its the regurgitators who are such bad debaters. Gotta cover up that inability to think for ones self.

Because Liberals take things personally. It's probably a personality difference that separates them from conservatives in the first place.

First of all, I am not a liberal or conservatives. I find both the far right and the far left unreasonable, but the hard core Conservatives are the worst. They think that anyone not holding their views are somewhere between unpatriotic and down right evil.

I guess it depends on whether or not you want to hear what is being said. I find people with nothing to say on both sides, but I've found smart people on both sides as well. I prefer to debate with the ones that have something to say, and not the ones that just make generalizations or hurl insults. One more thing, when balance is restored to government, you will find people will be much more comfortable.

I'm more of a liberal. I think liberals are better debaters, but I don't think either side has good listening skills. That's something they both need to work on.

How can Rush be a good listener, he can't even hear for all of that Oxycontin in his ears...

I disagree I find that liberals are by nature more open to hearing another point of view.
