This is nothing new. It has been sucking for oh, about five years or so now. The problem is that bands that come out today have no originality. They all grew up wanting to look and sound like someone else. That's fine, except that at some point you should look to have your "own thing" to represent. If you don't believe me, look at a five or six bands randomly. All of their names will have something in common, usually angst or rebellion. All their sounds will be the same mish-mosh over and over. Even the looks are so cliched it's embarassing. That's why they tend to be one-hit-wonders over and over and over. Examples: Tonic, 311, Five for Fighting, Eve 6, etc...
Just weak, un-inspired, whiney, complaining rich kids crying about not "fitting in." Used to be not fitting in meant you were broke your whole life, uncomfortable with who you are, angry at the having to grow up at sometime in your life, etc. These bands are un-impressive, and I hate to break it to people, but it does not look good in the future either. Hell, just look at MTV. 25 year anniversary this month, but they have not played a video in 6 years. Sad, just sad.

Yeah, I agree with you. Music has been at an all time low lately. Hopefully some good stuff will come out soon.
