Our country has done some awful things. It has left poor people to rot in a hurricane. This country outsources American jobs to save a buck. There is a large population of people who dont have health care, but in Canada they have free healthcare. I just watched Oprahs series about schools in crisis and how awful some schoos have become. When we evacuated Americans out of Lebanon we had people signing promissary notes to pay back the ticket home when other countries evacuated their citizens no questions asked. We are a nation get fatter, dumber, greedier and more dangerous. We are the biggest producers of pollution, we are the largest drug consuming nation in the world. Democrats and Republicans have not solved any of these problems. So how can you be proud of this country? One story in particular that has really pissed me off was the HBO special on a animal humane rescue operation that showed how awful people treat dogs. It was sick! This Priest killed and tortured innocent animals.

Why are we proud of America? Simple two words that govern our nation.
1. Liberty
We have the freedom to earn wealth. We have the freedom to earn nothing. We have the freedom to do or not do.
2. Free Speech
We have the right to say what we think. There is no guarantee that what we say will be intelligent or considered. Your rambling diatribe is a perfect example of this!

Truth: Liberals starting with the mayor ( a black gentleman ) and the governor ( a female ) left the poor to rot. They failed to act. They prevented FEMA and the Red Cross from coming in to assist. Or the Governor sitting on her hands because she was totally incompentant to be a leader of a state. (Why is it that all the other states hit by the hurricane didn't have these problems. True. So What? It is not governments business to baby its citizens from birth to death. Liberty means freedom to succeed or to fail. Also, every hospital, by law, must treat people who arrive there with a health problem. So even though there are many people without health care, they still get health care by going to the hospital.

Truth: No they don't. You are confusing cost with price. The costs of the health care are still present. They are paid by Canadian citizens in taxes. The price of getting health care is zero because they are not charged at the doctors office but the costs still exist. (Confusing cost with price is a common Liberal problem. Liberals refuse to understand real life economics.) Two more points...The Canadian health care system is so overburdened that surgical appointments are out 6 months and 12 months at time. Canadians come to America to get (and pay) for health care because they can't get it at home.

One almost after thought: Who creates new drugs? Free Market Americans. Where health care is a government operation, drug research is eliminated. I'll leave it to you to figure out why that happens. Hint: Costs vs Price Liberal Confusion hits again!

You did not list one thing that is the responsibility of the federal government. Try reading the Constitution and stop listening to Air America and you might learn something.
1. Hurricane Katrina - It's not the US gov. job to get people out of New Orleans. That's up to the state of Louisiana and the City of New Orleans.
2. Outsourcing Jobs - Companies do that, not the government. Keep raising minimum wages and see how many jobs get outsourced!
3. Socialist Health care - Nothing is free, someone has to pay for it. That would be the taxpayers!
4. Schools - Schools are controlled locally not by the federal government.
5. Lebanon evacuation - Why should my tax dollars be spent to get anyone out of anywhere. They shouldn't have been there to begin with.
6. Biggest producers of pollution - That would be China.
7. Animal cruelty - We have laws to deal with that. If people broke those laws they will be prosecuted.

There is a lot to be proud of in America. Even though we, as a country, have made some poor choices, you have to realize this is one of the best countries to live in. All we can do at this point is each one of us should try to make as big of a difference in our part of the world as we can and leave the rest to God. But if that doesn't work, move away.
