An acetone-based nail-polish remover is a great start. Make certain you use unscented type with no coloring in it whatsoever. Also be certain to blot the stain out; don't wipe or smear. This is not a guarantee, but it will definitely work better than nothing.
DON'T USE WATER OR HEAT!

it depends on what type of fabric you have, and what the nail polish was made of.
most likely, you're out of luck.
you can try thinner or nail polish remover, but you may wind up destroying the fabric of the couch.
Try Oxyclean spray.
