I think it will depend on the amount of ice time he sees. Given his age and track record with injuries, he is no longer a 60-70 game per year goaltender. If they can limit him to 40-50 games, which means bringing in a quality young backup, he MIGHT make it through the season. Even then, it will be a long shot. Healthy, he can still be one of the best in the game.

I read somewhere i believe it was on NHL.com that Hasek was not looking to play the whole year. Why would the red wings sign a goalie who is over 40 years old with an even older body. I think he will be a bust and the Wings are going to have to go out and get a guy later in the season. There was too many good younger goalies for me to agree with this signing. And Hasek is an a**hole off the ice.

Hasek is a total let down! My team is the Sens, but I feel sorry for you red wing fans who are gonna have to deal with Hasek! So glad to have him gone though, I knew we wouldn't keep him! He came to Ottawa with such high hopes, and our rookie goalie Emery is the favourite! He was great when he did play though. We did get Gerber though. I hated him this past season, lol. Called him Gerber baby, but now that he's my team goalie, I'm gonna have to deal. Anyways, good luck with Hasek, hope you've got a good back up goalie, cause knowing Hasek, he'll be playin!

Hasek is old and useless. What a waste of money by Ken Holland. Why not see if Glenn Hall and Gordie Howe can come back, too. Manny would be much better for this season and the future, although he would cost a bit more.

He will be a bust. When his contract is met as far as money for games played kicks in. His groin will give out and he'll done for the season. Don't look for Detroit to have Hasek in goal if they make the playoffs.

depends on his health. i think him signing on with detroit won't make their season any better or worse. the team has more problems than goaltending. he can be one of the best goalies when he is healthy. he also is a slightly better choice then belfour. if he messes up he will be run out of town like legace was run out of town for his first round playoff loss. it will not matter if he gets injured becuz they have a good backup goalie in jimmy howard. the only reason they signed hasek becuz noone else wanted him. ottawa is glad to get rid of him. they probably threw a party once he signed on with detroit. the money detroit wasted on him could have been used to get a better center to help the score more goals. i say a bust overall.

As soon as he has a bad game or two his "wonky groin" will be an issue and he'll be gone faster than you can say, "waste of money". Still maybe a marginally better choice than Belfour, I think the Sens learned their lesson.

Rumor has it you could hear a collective sigh of relief from Ottawa when Hasek was officially out of town.

It's a craps shoot, but I think he can definatly help them. The Wings would have won last year if they had a decent netminder, and if Hasek stays healthy, they can definatly win it all.

Its hard to say.... I will say though, when he's on his game and healthy, there's no goalie in the game that's better than Hasek.
