this is because they were supposedly the first ppl to come into the country....do you agree with this...i mean you dont exactly see the native americans getting special rights in the US...i believe that that is a good thing..
however ...here....the other races arent treated the same...it's way more difficult for a chinese or and indian to get into a university compared to a malay...its WAY more difficult for a non-muslim to get scolarships.....
now pls dont say that i'm racists or that i hate malays and muslims or some **** like that ....i just want your honest opinions on the matter...
there are many malays i know who dont agree with the whole special rights thing because they feel that they havent exactly done anything great for the country...so why should they be treated differently from ppl of other races...
honest opinions on the TOPIC pls...not opinions on what you think of Me posting a question like this

WHOA. Native Americans get all sorts of special rights. They don't pay taxes, they live on "free" land, they are allowed to have casinos, and they aren't bound by the same laws as the rest of the country. In fact, in South Dakota there is an attempt to pass an anti-abortion law. If this law passes, one of the tribes in SD is planning to set up an abortion clinic on reservation land -- outside the purview of the law! When they decide to go to college they are a protected minority with the full "rights" of minority status. Many of them don't even have to pay for college.

Is this right? Absolutely not. In fact, all these policies have done is harm the Indians and taught them to abandon their heritage and depend on the government for money. I hate to generalize but after living near a reservation and having a father who was a sheriff near that reservation, I have to say that many of them are uneducated drunks who live off welfare.

A very delicate issue to address. Malaysia has had a difficult balancing act to follow to maintain stability and avoid the rancor that a poly-cultural and multi-religious society encounters. Somehow, they seem to have achieved a modicum of peace & balance between the races and religions. There are many other countries that have not been so fortunate. I know that it seems unfair that some people 'seem more equal than other people' . But let me ask if such situations do not exist in many other countries in a more insidious, de facto manner all the time. Think about that.
I think that issues as sensitive as this one should be treated carefully and on a case-by-case basis. And, if it ain't broke; don't fix it
So,sorry but no, I don't believe in additional social engineering in this case.

i guess it's a way the goverment tries to protect 'their people', and giving them an advantage over the other races

see how far that got them

think it only created a generation of money and work-dependent individuals and benefit only a minority

no when the crunch time comes: VSS, cutbacks, inflation - who's gonna feel the pinch?

This is their way of protecting their own heritage. It isn't right, but it is their way. You have my sympathy. You are not rooted as a plant. The world is wide and fantasic and dangerous. Try it sometime. You will love it out here.
