Traffic is legit, I think. I use that one, myself. Of course, I'm usually 5 min early to work.

well, my hubby is in Iraq at the moment. and his (and some buddies) excuse for not being somewhere on time one afternoon while they were in "Tent City" was that they had to fight off an army of camel spiders! ew!

Wow, my car was stolen or broken into, death in my family, have to attend a funeral, not feeling well, food poison, a friend or family just got into a car accident. My dog is missing, or my cat is missing and I needed to look for it, sick pet, sick child, doctor appointment. Bus was late, or the train was late, couldn't get a ride, car not working . Flat tire, tooth ache, gotta go to the dentist, have the flu., I could really go on and on. But the one about no alarm was the first time I've heard that one.

That's hilarious! The best one I ever got was from a co-worker who said she'd pick up a shift for me because I had 3 midterms I needed to study for the next day. Around 4:30 I get a phone call from her saying I can't fill in for your 5 o'clock shift tonight. My kid ran away from home.. Alright, first of all, you don't call someone to tell them you can't pick up their shift a half an hour before the shift starts.. it's now your responsibility to find someone to cover the shift that you picked up.. and secondly, what time does school let out? Her kid was "missing" for two hours and her assumption was that he ran away... Yeah, only slightly upsetting!

Train trouble.......I use that one constantly, cause they can't really find out about the trains =]

Also.....when I was in high school, i used the excuse "I fell" a LOT.....and it worked! I didn't feel like going to class so I came in like...10 minutes late and the teacher was kinda mad but when I explained that I fell crossing over to the other building to get to class and I'd injurjed my knee and I was pouting......hehe everyone laughed at me but it worked....more than once with the same teacher!

OK, the best one ever at my job, this was one of the teams that carpool, so it was 7 people that were 40 minutes late. This was the drivers excuse; "we were stuck at the railroad crossing because the train had a flat tire". I swear we laughed for days!

The worst I heard was a guy said he was late because his dog ate a sock and it was stuck in half way out, so he had to bring the dog to the vet. It was so bad that I actually let him get away with it.

My friend Sean had a 3,000 pound box dropped on his foot the previous night at work and could barely walk from the couch to the bathroom. I think that's a good excuse to stay home!

TRUE STORY There pet fish got sick and they had to take it to the vet. But the vet wasnt there that day...so they performed there own autopsy on the fish. Come to find out the fish had swallowed a whole can of pepsi. They tried to flush the fish down the toilet, but it was clogged due to their over use of toilet paper...so they had to bury it, but they couldnt find their shovel.....what a mess- point is...this took a long time

He said he can't come in because his car broke down and doesn't have another way in, when he came in with his bike the day before. He also lives less then 3 miles away from work.

LOL..I loved her answer..me?..I just tell the truth and sometimes I do forget to set the alarm or the cops do have the road blocked to work or my lover wants too many kisses in the parking lot and we loose track of time...the truth can be fun to tell!

I try not to make excuses other than traffic or I just got a late start. I think if you try to give too much of an answer you look less honest....but anywhoo...those are mine.
