Life is a test to see where you belong. Do you belong with him up in Heaven or down in Hell with Lucifer? Bad things in our life happens usually to teach us something, and things also happen to influence us. If we can choose between good and bad, and right and wrong, and not think that suicide is the only way out, we're at a good chance at passing that test. There's nothing to study for because you never know whats going to happen next. That's why you always have to keep teh good things in mind, even if the bad out rules the good. "You can go on as much as your heart believes, although the scars of yesterday remain". Bad things happen because they should...if they didn't, would man come together? Would we actually learn anything? Wouldn't we just ask God for everything knowing he'll give it to us because he's never let us down by disasters killing people? Sexual abuses...you learn from, poverty you learn from, bombings and war...people come together no matter who's side you're on. Unemployment, maybe that wasn't the job meant for you. Broken marriages, maybe you're not with the person that you were meant to be with and that could make you happy and satisfied the rest of your life. Shattered homes... not everyone can have a happy home

heinous crimes such as sexual abuse, etc are compeltely from the free will of humans....God gave us all the gift of free will...if he hadn't, there would be none of this, right. But the whole point of free will is so that we will make the right decisions, and if we make the wrong ones, then we should repent for those sins and earn our right to spend eternity in heaven with Him.
as for the catastrophies cause by NATURE...God is not completely responsible for all of that.He did creat nature, but He did not say "let there be tornadoes and earthquakes and hurricanes and fires, etc" They are a direct result of nature, the universe, and believe it or not, humans effect on the earth.

This is going to raise a firestorm of protest but here goes.
The only logical answer is that God is Evil. Make it an Algebraic equation , solve for x If you plug an evil god into your equation then all of the answers come out out right. If you plug a good god into your equation then none of your answers come out right. At the very least you wind up with a god that has a major mental illness or two.

This is a process called natural selection. If the world did not have natural disasters and many diseases, then we would find our selfs overpopulated. This would not be a good situation for the world and we would find ourselves in a state of emergency. Basically 50% of the world would live in poverty. The job market would also be very difficult considering that the unemployment rate would be even higher.

I've been wondering the same thing... Does god do things because he's benevolent? If yes, then what he wills is because he's right. but...

If he's benevolent, how could he allow 6 million of his chosen people to be incinerated by Hitler, or why did he allow Truman to vaporize 200,000 Japanese men, women and children or Stalin to kill 30m Christians? If he was also omnipotent AND benevolent, then these events could not have happened.

If someone counters that man's "free will" caused those events to happen, so don't blame God, then can it be said God is not omnipotent AND benevolent, because he allowed man's free will to reign?

And further, the mere existence of evil in the world makes the existence of a benign god impossible: if god were omnipotent, he could eliminate evil and if he were benign, he would want to do so...another way of saying this:

If god is able to prevent evil but is not willing to prevent evil, then he is not benevolent.

If god is willing to prevent evil but is not able to prevent evil, then he is not omnipotent.

Evil is either in accordance with god's intention or contrary to it. Thus, either god cannot prevent evil or he does not want to prevent evil.

There is no logic: natural disasters to one side, considering crime, poverty, war, unemployment and so on: man (in general) has brought them on himself. With natural disaster, it is a curious mix of responsibility, irrespnsibility and ignorance on mankind's part. God wants to rescue us from all this, but so often we are not able to avail ourself of his protection. It is impossible for us to see from God's viewpoint -- he is so much greater than we -- but read the biblical book of JOB to get something of an appreciation for the fact that God so far excels our own experience and understanding. Just as a parent -- and should not -- rescue his children from all pain and misfortune, God "leaves" us, to a certain extent, so that we have total freedom. How can we blame God for our own abuse of free will?

Mankind has been questioning this for centuries. Since they have not been able to answer it I know I cannot. But if you want to read a great debate about it see the site below:

Hi,

Don't forget God is not the only power working in this world. Satin is the cause of all the things you mentioned.

In the Bible it explains what God will do to Satin in the future. He will put a stop to everything by throwing it into a lake of fire.

When the time is right!

Many will go into the lake of fire with Satin unless they have Jesus in their hearts.

Dang it, do no longer you comprehend something?!? ... Tornadoes are brought about by the amassed interior of reach sin; forming right into a seen funnel of divine justice, decrease than the whirling movements of unfastened will. The prayers are based on the consecrated premise that "The Divine Plan" [you comprehend, the holy blueprint of creation] became no longer set in action in meticulous info [in spite of each and every little thing adverse Lard in basic terms had 7 days], as a result attempting to faithfully redirect the up-stability of sin in the direction of the sea, the place in basic terms the sinless fish ought to die. all of it makes suitable sense, if considered as an ignominious end to a sacred slaughter marketing campaign. .

I'm not sure about mother nature, but as for crimes committed by men/women, God gave us free will and choice, and by that, we can choose to do good or evil upon others. He will exact his revenge on us when our time comes though. God's paradise is not here in this material world, but in the heavens for believers.
