"lpaganus" is right - find out what sort of festivals, fairs etc are coming up and buy a booth. If it's a food festival, that's the best, but art and music fairs are good too. Also, autumn is state fair season...

Your goals at the booth:
- give as many people as possible a free sample that tastes really great and is memorable. Don't be cheap - you want to impress people so they talk about your. Also give them something like a refrigerator magnet with your name and website or phone # on it. Also a coupon for their first order.

- in exchange for the free sample, they have to fill out a survey card.

On the card, have these blanks:
- name, address with zip code, # of people in the family/house
- email (totally optional - people shy away from this sometimes)
- a few checkboxes about their food preferences - I don't know but maybe "healthy / meat n potatoes / special needs / etc" so you know your audience.

then after the show, immediately type them all into a spreadsheet or mailing list, and start sending post cards with special offers, tips for busy families, etc.

there's more, but that'll get you off to a good start.

Good luck!
Scott

A few free resources – check out the sources box for links:

1) Create a blog pertaining to your field

2) Use Yahoo! Local & Yahoo! Groups – Be sure to read the TOS for each one!

3) Write articles pertaining to your field and/or expertise.

4) Advertise on Craiglist

Also, consider signing up for an affiliate program. These programs enable you to advertise on other's sites (your affiliates) and once a sale is made to you, your affiliates & the program are paid a commission.

No matter how effective people think the Internet has become, personal, one-on-one relationships build a local business. Join your local Chamber of Commerce and participate in one of their sales conferences, bring brochures and samples, people can't resist tastings. Go where families congregate, school and church fairs, little theatre productions, meetings of military wives, back to school programs. Become familiar with local events and participate. Once the community finds out your company's product and service is "In The Best Of Taste". (catchy slogan, ?)you are well on your way to success. Good Luck

To begin with, what do you have in mind to promote? Find for your service key features to tell. Do not be draggy, just keep it simple and straight to the point.

I can suggest to you some media of promoting:

Local radio stations (neighbourhoods, the best promotional tool)
Word of Mouth (the 2nd best!)
Pamphlets
B&B, Hotels, Shopping malls (do demonstration to let customers try samples of your food. you have to ask for permission first, of course)

Lastly, if you are willing, TV ads and advertising agencies..

Hope it helps! If you need further advice, feel free to contact me. ;)

marketplace it as a social gathering, with exhibitions you anticipate something uninteresting, if there is going to be dancing and vogue etc then it needs to be seen as something cool, youthful, new and exciting. you will get a good style of custom from paintings scholars, entice them with the belief of it being a fairly an indie social gathering
