Yepper! I quit for a year and started back one year to the day. I know people that have quit for 3, 4, 5 years, even more and have started back up. Don't worry....you're not alone! It's a hell of a habit to break!!!

I've quit twice before, and I've been smoking for over 10 years. Once I quit for 2 months and another time for only 6 weeks. It sucks so bad to pick it up again. I want to try it again, but am very doubtful about success.

I always start again by just having one, or a draw of somebody else's. I have tried the patch without success, and the nic gum helped a little. I have heard mixed reviews about almost every stop smoking aid out there. I think it depends on the individual.

Yes, this is very common. A lot of people quit for a very long period of time only to start again later. The thing of it is, once you know how it feels to be hooked niccotine, that knowledge stays with you long after your body stops being dependant on the chemical itself.

So if you encounter a stressful situation down the line, it is very easy to remember how much easier it was to deal with by smoking, and get right back into the habit.

There are a lot of ways to help you quit smoking, such as niccotine gum or patches, and certain medications. But when it comes down to it, you still need to have the mental willpower to not go back to smoking even after you're not dependant on niccotine anymore.

It can help to remind yourself how much money you have saved, and how many years you have added to your life. There are actually online counters that you can put on a personal web site to track these amounts. There is a list of them here: http://whyquit.com/whyquit/LinksDMeters.html

I smoked for 7 years ... I then found out that I was pregnant, so I quit ... I had stopped for 5 years when I started up again ... that time I smoked for 4 months and stopped while I was visiting my husband (he hates me smoking!) and got pregnant again ... haven't had a smoke since.

This time, I doubt I will ever go back to it.

I quit last July-for about 6 months then believed I could get away with an occasional smoke, an occasional smoke led to me buying my first pack in a year yesterday. I have failed. I am going to quit again, I have to because my clothes and my hair stink again.

yep..took me 4 times to quit. I'm 1 yr smoke free. I'm NEVER smoking again..im just TOO focused to fall off the wagon now.

i tried everything, hypnosis, that stupid "smoke away" crap, the gum the patches...

what worked? COLD TURKEY!

you just need to detox! the rest is will power.

Yeah, I quit when I was pregnant...faltered a bit and had one when I was about seven months along...and after I had my daughter I picked it right back up again. It's my biggest vice, and I know I'll pay for it someday.
