I named my son Jesse, partly as a promise that he would never experience these things from me. Powerful message. What do you think?

Yes it is a very powerful message. Parents do have a way of controlling their children and trying to live their dreams through them instead of respecting their rights and dreams to be who they want to be. I think we all have to learn that our children have a right to choose their lives and if we teach them well they will make life decisions that will serve them well whether it is what we had planned for them or not. I will love and support my son regardless of the road he travels. Incidently, Jesse Younger was Kris Kristoffersons guitarist.
