Sure, you can. Why not?

Take a pain reliever for the pain if it's that bothersome. Ibuprofen will help with swelling. Do not use neosporin. Try to find some unscented lotion for now. Without any added dyes. People say you can get away with just using lotion on it while it's healing. I was told though it doesn't keep it moisturized enough and shouldn't be used until the peeling is complete.

I did and I have two. But if money is a problem, just go with old fashioned vaseline. It's even cheaper than neosporin.

The main point is keeping it clean and moisturized. If you keep it clean, then it shouldn't get infected. Moisturization helps it heal so the tat looks good.

**btw, it makes me laugh that people say "you can't put neosporin on an open wound." um, that's what it's for. to heal wounds and keep them from getting infected. dumbasses.

Yes u can- Showering is the perfect time to clean your tattoo. Before showering apply a light layer of it over the tattoo to keep the water out of it. Do Not wash tattoo while showering, when done do not wipe tattoo off, blot dry, soak with alcohol, rubbing gently, blot dry and repeat 3 times. Make sure your tattoo gets a chance to dry before re-applying the ointment (neosporin or bacitracin), but when you put it on this time firmly press the ointment directly into the tattoo, leaving just a glaze of ointment on the skin.

Repeat this process for at least the first 2 weeks, tattoo should begin to peel.

No, you are not supposed to put neosporin on a new tatt. I have several and the only thing you are supposed to put on it is A and D ointment. Neosporin can cause it to scab over, causing loss of color. I have three tatts and every one of the artists told me neosporin is harmful to the tattoo.

Hey there, I used the baby rash medicine for the full week they recommended on my ankle tattoo, it was kind of messy, but it made it feel better fast. You could probably use Neosporin, just make sure you read the directions on the bottle to make sure it doesn't have any bad reactions to open sores like tattoos. Congrats on getting one! =)

Use neosporin for the first couple days.. to heal the skin.

Then move onto regular lotion while it continues to heal.. you want to keep it moisturized as long at it itches .. and don't ever, ever scratch it while it's healing... it sounds funny, but if it itches, slap it.. this will get rid of the sensation. If you scratch it, you may remove a portion of the scab, then you will have a scar in your tattoo .. and it will mess it up.

Neosporin will work just fine. What did you get for a tat?

NO, DO NOT PUT NEOSPORIN ON THE TAT! NEOPSPORIN IS MADE TO FADE OUT SCARS AND HELP THE HEALING PROCESS @ THE SAME TIME. A TATTOO IS A SCAR SO IT WILL FADE OUT SOME OF THE COLOR. A&D OINTMENT THE FIRST WEEK AND ESPECIALLY WHILE PEELING IS THE BEST TREATMENT. I HAVE 11 TATTOOS SOME PROFESSIONAL AND SOME NOT BUT WITH A&D THEY ALL HAVE THE SAME FRESH LOOK.

You can use it but only for the first day or two. If you continue to use Neosporin it will pull the ink out of your skin. I used it the first day and after that I used unscented Curel lotion.

NO. I wouldn't use neosporin. It might be ok for the first day or two, but then just use fragrence free lotion & soap only.
