Tnazanite is still a very popluar stone, and it is getting rarer because the big mine in Tanzania is producing only smaller and lower quality stones now. They are very beautiful, and I wish I had one. But, I think a good Colombian Emerald is richer, more nicer than a Tanzanite. I LOVE jewelry! Thanks for the chance to chat about it.

tanzanite was highly wanted due to its limited supply. as it became more and more popular, the supply went dramatically lower. diamonds, however, have a large supply, to the point that if the diamond mine owners released more to be purchased, the value would drop dramatically... down to under $50 per carat.
As for the most wanted gemstone, it depends on what is popular. I have heard that Pink Amethyst is popular, as well as Tourmaline, Iolite, London Blue Topaz and Pink Sapphires. It all depends on what the latest trend is.

Popular stones, like anything in fashion, changes seasonally. When a designer finds "this great stone" then tanzanite will probably be replaced.
I don't mind - as long as tanzanite is popular then the stones I like more will be more reasonably priced.

Diamonds are back on top this summer. Last summer tanzanite was in demand. Still gorgeous but its all about the diamonds :o)

It's not the MOST wanted. It's pretty awesome...but it's not the best. There are several others better. Diamond, topaz...etc..
