Theyre taking over just because of the exchange rate of world currencies. They buy and buy and build and build. They dropped 2 Billion on the production of video games? and Are going to pay UP for environmental cleanup. Theyre going to beautify their cities and lands, apply uber technologies and eventually expand and grow upwards. Theyre already building practically on every square block, and connecting most of the major superstructures with walkways, both to strengthen them and to increase productivity. They will take over.

I don't think they ever will because they lack some inportant qualities that a super power must have.

1. They lack freedom of expression.

These things are important because this is the reason America has become the world super power. We have a high standard of living for everyone, not just the rich or middle class. We allow everyone to have a say, which makes it easier to fix things that are wrong with the country and hold us back. China is one of the biggest human rights violators. The government system is corrupt in a way if you speak out against it, you will go missing and they will never find your body. That's why a lot of top notch Chinese come here to make their living.

2. Originiality and the spirit of invention.

China doesn't really invent things for themselves, they take the inventions of others and improve upon them. This has put the American market at a disadvantage, also their poor workforce willing to work for peanuts has done the same. Even though this occurs, they will never surpass the USA in this regard.

3.They lack basic human rights.

Some of the world's worst human rights offenses occur in China. The police can be esily bribed. People are put in jail with no evidence. Politicians are intimidated with threats of violence and jail time.Workers don't have safe working conditions. Basically they are America in the early 1900s, but with America in the 21st century's technology.

4.They lack a mobile class system.

A lot of the worlds first self made millionaires came from the US and usually from humble beginnings. Take CJ Walker, first female self made millionaire, daughter of former slaves. Middle class is what drives America, the larger the middle class, the more money is spent on products that only the rich could afford before. Middle class drives the economy since the wealthy are only about 1% of the population. China, while its middle class is growing, still has a large number of peasants. China also has quite a lot of people and a limited number of resources.

5. Military power

The United States spends more money on defense than all of the other countries in the world combined. A super power must be able to back up its statements and protect itself from all invaders.

With that said, the situation may change in the future, but for now, China will not surpass the US. India has a good chance of becoming a super power because of their growing middle class and their wealth of educated people. Their major problem is their socialist system of government, which is corrupt and bureaucratic. They also have a problem with corrupt local police and extreme poverty. They use different laws for different religions, each state speaks its own language and they have problems with islamic terrorists. I think India has a better chance than China because of its wealth of educated people.

Nada, I know you don't hear much on this, but it is like Japan in the 80s. Everyone was so afraid they were taking over. That went bust. China is far to unstable socially right now. She has the income generated by selling cheep goods to the US, but should we slow down the income flow stops. She is a massive market, but as best as I can tell she is as divided as Mexico between have and have-nots. She is also dangerously tied into the insanity of North Korea must as Germany was tied into the insanity of Austria before WWI. Also, historically speaking, China has never been too interested in leading the rest of the world in anything. They consider themselves the "Giver of Culture" and they tend to keep to themselves (Communism not withstanding). They only get involved when it is on their borders. Again that indicates that North Korea may drag them into a hellish war with the west (US/UK/Japan). That war, when it occurs (not if) will take them out, us out, and Russia out. The EU and AU (African Union) will be the only viable economies still standing.

The EU is in an odd place in history. They are slowly developing a commonality, but the reluctance to go to war is not for the reason so often sited. They have no young men. They are at a negative population growth and have been since the end of the Second World War.

The AU is so racked by cronic interior unrest that its potentional population to field a substantial Army is deminshed to a nullification point. Since both will sit out this comming mess, they will fair much better.

I don't think it will. It's economic growth is on a collision course with the on-going centralized dictatorship.

Something has to give for China to continue to grow. I think the bureaucracy and the farmers have more power than the city capitalists, and the merchants have a REAL PROBLEM with a rickety, crooked banking system in China.

Because I don't think they can strengthen the banking system and democratize the country, especially rural China, I believe it likely that prosperity will be short-lived in China and that it will not become and remain a superpower.

They won't. They do have have a strong military force, but that is all their country focuses on for the most part. If they try to take over the world, the U.S.A. could team up with Canada and maybe some other countries and defeat them.
I mean, look how powerful we are!

As soon as they take the artificial controls off their currency, I guess in about 10 years.

They have chinese communities in every country in the world ready to begin the land grab once every economy in the world goes belly up.

So you still have time to learn mandarin.

12 years, if they don't collapse before then. If China's economy stays on its current trend, it should happen around then.
