Do you think that prayer works? Well this is what I call a seriously deep question. It all comes down to what you believe. If you believe that a few prayers will help you get closer to God, then knock your self out. As for me, I believe that simple belief in God is good enough for him/her. I mean with all the mixed views in the world, who knows?

I remember one time I was in class and I knew that when my sharp minded and harsh professor called on me for an assignment I didn't understand how to do she'd most likely fail me for the whole semester. I kept praying and praying soooo hard that she wouldn't get to my name and I just felt that God heard me. Miraculously (believe me, she's that sharp) when she called on the girl right before me, she suddenly got distracted by something unexpected and actually forgot to call on my name! I'm certain it was divine intervention. You don't know what that professor is like.

we have to know that when we pray or prayer pray they do work but they didnot take the profit direct i mean in their life but they will take it after that when they come back to our god
but they have to work to earn their living to feed their homs and to live and iam sure that one who pray and work in the same time is the best for me and for our god and he will be better than the one who always pray and did not have any work as our god say in his book (wa 2ool a3malo fasayara alah 3amalokom warasolaoho wa elmo2meneen)sad2 alah el3azeem

In human term you asking if talking to your spouse works.
Off course, talking to your spouse works.
You must be polite, honoring, keep the good relationship well.
Prayer must begin with faith. Because we cannot see God.
Prayer must be balance with the daily intake of the Word of God, or else we could be praying amiss.

work for what? vague question. Work to make you feel better? Work to get what you want? Work to make you feel closer to God? Work in that it is a form of worship to God?
God tells us to Pray - so, prayer works as a form of obedience.
Also...where two or three are gathered............
