It's an oxymoron
Compassionate = big government liberal spending
Conservative = support constraints of the Constitution (i.e. NOT big govt liberal spending)

No, your analogy is pablum for the masses of uneducated people out in the great unwashed hinterlands.
When you are young you wish for everything to be just what you want. If you don't get your way you cry. Many people never grow out of that stage. When you mature you realize that simply giving your children ice cream for every meal is not the best thing for them even if they cry.
There are many roads to success and the conservative ideology is to give everyone a chance to succeed. The other ideology is to redistribute wealth to those that have less. Just as only an idiot would eat nothing but ice cream everyday, simply giving money to someone because they are poor does not help them become self sufficient.
The rich do not put their money under their bed to keep it from you. They put it in banks and then you go there and get a loan and buy a car or a house or a whatever you want. They build a factory that makes widgets and you stand in the line putting widgets together and get paid every week. If the factory fails they get burned too.
True compassion is not simply giving you everything you want. True compassion is not making the field even. True compassion is giving you the opportunity to succeed and letting you go. That is the ideal of conservatism.

According to its proponents, a compassionate conservative is someone who believes that conservatism and compassion go together and complement each other. This is opposed to the traditional criticism that conservatives tend to be harsh.[citation needed] A compassionate conservative sees the social problems of the United States, such as healthcare, immigration, the environment, etc., as being issues for which conservatives can find better solutions than the "failed" programs of liberals and the War on Poverty. Compassionate conservative philosophy argues for encouragement policies in support of traditional families; welfare reform to promote individual responsibilization, workfare; active policing; standards-based schools, and helping poor countries around the world.

Conservatives are not "for the rich". The term Conservative generally refers to a person who believes in economic liberty but does not necessarily believe in social liberty. In other words to a conservative it is wrong fro the government to stick its nose in your financial business but it perfectly OK for the government to stick its nose in your personal life. But it is important to remember that not everyone fits into the labels of "conservative" or "liberal". This is why the Nolan Chart was invented. To find out where you fit on the Nolan Chart you can take the World's Smallest Political Quiz. You can take it here:

Your question should have been "What the HELL is a compassionate conservative?????"
If it's George W. Bush, I hope we never again see the likes of one in any position of responsibility.
