And he returned them to the owners son and they gave him a measly $100 dollars, is that a joke or what? If i found them i would have negotiated over the phone and if the price wasnt right i would have burned them.

100 dollars is a pittance in comparison but I can's say I agree with you about negotiating. The owner of the bonds is the owner of the bond and, though a skin-flint, may have given to the best of his circumstances.

Keep an open mind. I agree that $100 is just as bad as NO REWARD at all. Maybe the media and the donor/recipient are just saying that it was $100, so the other homeless buddies don't rob him of the $$$$$. How much of a reward do you think would be more appropriate?

I was thinking it was a joke that the owners simply gave the guy $100. Good god. The community had to come together to properly reward the guy for something that NOBODY has anymore - integrity and trustworthiness.
