I am not sure if this is the one you are reffering to but "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" by the Rightous Brothers, featured in the movie Top Gun sounds like it could be it as long as the word "B - A -B -Y" is supposed to be a drawn out word rather than a spelled out word.

no, its none of them, i can hear it in my head, its a woman singing it, and it goes "baby oh baby, i love to call you baby" etc, then the chorus goes B - a -b - y , baby, B - a b - y , baby! i am determined to find out who sung this now! ------ thats it, Carla Thomas! thanks, I can sleep tonight now
