New Jersey without a doubt. There is more to do. The Jersey shore is cleaner than the beaches in FL and we have fewer hurricanes. We have the diversity of the seasons and fewer tourists.PS the only people who have those "JERSEY ACCENTS" live in Staten Island NY.

Yes if you are in NJ you are 20 min from NY , but If you are in Fl , depending where , you are very close to , Miami , Orlando ,Daytona , Bahamas ...........
I lived in NY all my life and I have been in FL for 3 years . I went back for a visit and would never go back again.Fl is cleaner , better quality air , beautiful , people are generally weird but defiantly nicer .I work 9-5 Mon - Fri and even working , I always feel like I am on a vacation . So much less stress.
Its also nice to know 12 out of 12 months I can beach it ANY weekend.Great thought huh.
Most people think Fl is hot & humid but here is the deal :Nov -Feb 65 - 75(maybe 60 at times)
March - May 70 - 78 (maybe 80 at times )
May - June 80 - 87
July - August 87-94 (2 Really Hot Months)
Sept - Oct 70 - 78

I grew up in NJ and had a pleasant upbringing. I haven't experienced the entire state of Florida, but have visited the Orlando area several times (in the late fall) and like the idea of being warm when it's cold at home. However, I do enjoy the cliched "change of seasons" NJ offers, and, while it can get cold and snowy, the winters are still manageable. In short, I'd like to visit FL but live in NJ (I now live in Eastern PA and it's about the same).
As far as dirty, clean, pleasant, unpleasant--both states have their share of both. You need to do your homework either way before planting roots.
Just one thought--NJ isn't as small as most people think. Where I lived, it was an hour and a half from NYC, and I was in the central part of the state. If you're looking for an easy commute, consider Mercer County (about an hour away) and north.

New Jersey by a landslide! I visit Miami Beach (not by choice)often and it's just too hot down there even though it's probably cooler in Florida today than it is in Jersey. Florida cities are extremely dirty. Shop owners never seem to clean up their storefronts and garbage is everywhere.

It depends what you like, but I personally would prefer New Jersey because I like the north. I hate heat & humidity so Florida would definitely be much worse for me.
