we have had a mouse for a few weeks now and all attemps to get rid of him have failed. Last night took the cake (and i'm sure he would if he could) i was sitting at the computer when what to my wondering eye should appear, no not Santa, but the mouse. He actually ran across my feet ewwww. And made several other appearences throughout the evening, all greeted with loud screams.. I think it must ahve been pretty loud as I managed to set my daughters car alarm off, over the phone. Even got my hubby up who sleeps like there is no tomorrow.
But we have amde several attemps at ridding ourselves of this mouse. Mousetraps with peanut butter, mousetraps with cheeze whiz, bait and mouse box with bait. And nothing but now this guy thinks we are his freinds as he comes out to watch a movie with us. Oh should mention we have a crawling baby and a two year old not to mention old yeller our pooch, anyway advice would be welcome, thanks...

they make these cages where a mouse can walk in but can't get out, you should buy one of these.

Cat is the best way to go. I bought the sticky stuff only to come home and find that the mouse had chewed it's foot off. No mouse just the foot and blood. Tried traps, the little thing ran all around stuck in the trap and making an awful noise. I couldn't take it, I had to leave. If there is one, there are others, you need to nip this in the bud. When I bought my home it was infested. The mice got into the stove, oven and all. Every time I used the Stove there was an awful odor. I decided a good cleaning would help. When I pulled the stove out of its corner, I found the Stoves insulation in a big pile with dropings all over. Needless to say the Stove had to go. Next I pulled the refrigator out, nothing, but I think it was a matter of time. One cat, no mice not even in the winter when it's cold outside!

I would recommend calling a professional exterminator. If you have seen one mouse there is most likely more. The best thing you can do is to have a thorough inspection to locate the entry points and seal them up so that you dont have even more mice get in. Most Pest Control companies offer free inspections.
A mouse can fit through any gap that it can fit its head into- usually as small as a dime.
Glue traps and snap traps can be hazardous to your little ones and pets. Imagine a finger getting caught in one of those. Ouch!!
An exterminator also will know where to place traps to be the most effective. I recommend live catch traps that can be just picked up and thrown away.

Well, first off you need to make sure you are using not the new plastic mouse-traps but the original, old-fashioned mouse-trap. Get a sunflower seed and wedge it as tightly as is humanly possible into that little holder. Hope he can't get it out (the key is you want the mouse to have to pull hard enough on this to set off the trap). If he does get it out without dying, you can try the glue trap with a tiny bit of peanut butter in the very middle. What I wound up doing with my house-mice (because they had figured out how to circumvent capture in every type of trap I got) was I finally borrowed a BB gun and just took aim and got the suckers when they sauntered out on my counter as if they owned the place. It was all I could do after the traps failed. Good luck.

I am so sorry you lost your dog. I have no idea what could have caused such a terrible thing unless he had an infection or injury of some sort. Could he have gotten a stick or some shart object that perforated an intestine? Your vet can do a necropsy to determine the actual cause of death. Based on what you've told us, I don't think this was anything contagious. Your other dogs should be fine as long as they have had their vaccinations. I would keep a close eye on them and call the vet if there is even the slightest hint of a problem. However, I think this was an isolated, tragic incident of some sort.

Alas! We are pretty much in the same boat as you. I don't know if it was the heat that drove mice inside our house. We used non-toxic 'glue boards' called Catchmaster and caught 5 during the past 3 days. It really turned my life upside down. I don't feel safe or comfortable walking around in my own home, I dare not put my feet into my slippers when I need to get up during the night, I feel creepy even to sit at the computer in the evening... Worst of all, I can't have my baby grandson come over.
We still have 22 glue boards along the walls in the house but when is it safe to take them out? When is it going to end?
I'm just sharing with you our experience and my heart goes out to your babies. Let's hope this dilemma will end for both of us soon.

set up a bucket of water filled half way or so with a stick balanced on it so the mouse will get onto it. put peanut butter or something on the end over the water to attract the mouse. When the mouse gets closer to the bait, it will fall in the water and can't get out. make sure the stick isn't long enough to climb up and out of the bucket

Get mouse traps and if that doesn't work try to catch the mouse yourself by it's tail.

Ok I thought it was only me! Girl let me share ; last Thursday I was in my home office working on something and my friend asked was I done so she could check her email , Not even 2minutes later she started to scream "MOUSE, MOUSE , it ran across my feet ! " I automatically thanked god it was her and not me because it could have been me. I jumped in the tub and wouldn’t move! I asked he to bring my bag I called a neighbor with a cat and asked to borrow the cat for 3weeks so the mouse would smell the cat and leave! It worked, it always works but the smell only lasts 3months so get a kitten, borrow a cat do whatever I’m terrified for you and your crawling baby , Mice carry alot of diseases , girl run they are nasty.

Use the sticky mouse trap. Put some food right in the middle of the trap. The mouse can't escape once it sets foot on it. Also, it won't kill the mouse.
