Why are you surprised? Look at the Kennedys.....their money came from bootlegging. The sad truth is that the mega achievers very often get their wealth and power from illicit means. The ones that manage to pull this off are the ones smart enough to know how the game is played, make all the right moves, and have the correct ethnic background. The Bush family fits this to a "T". Once one has sufficient power, one can manipulate the law enforcement community sufficiently to cover the stupid acts of subordinate family members.
Thing is, Dubya is consolidating his power in ways unheard of before. There is a real and present danger of a dictatorship being the end result.
The whole Christian thing is mostly a put-on. Dubya and clan obey the Bush rules (that which is expedient, effective and can be gotten away with), so the theocracy thing does not concern them. They are making all of the correct noises to retain support of the lunatic fringe uber-Christian right, which currently is the swing vote contingent that got him elected in the first place. I cannot believe that anyone as wily, clever and devious as Dubya and company can put any credence in all of that fundamentalist malarkey. It has all the plausibility of the Flying Spaghetti Monster (Google that for a hoot!!)

Well perhaps you needed to be around when both families were in office....I was and will take a Kennedy over a Bush anytime....We as a country at least still had the respect of the world when John Kennedy was president.all the allegations against both familys have little basises in fact..as far as the rest of each family member I don't really care . Bush has destroyed this countrys standing as a world power and divided it more than any other president in my time. More weapons and wars do not a super power make,the ability to stop others from doing that does. We haven't stopped a damn thing ...

It is probably because they are "stonecutters", or some variation of Freemasons. This type of behaviour is typical of persons and families that are into Freemasonry. Outwardly they are supposed to be acknowledged as "respectable" by the laws of The System, which is their system. However, the way they get away with all kinds of crimes and serious infractions is a classic characteristic of members of the order and of the order itself.
How religious they really are or even think they are is debatable. George W. Bush, along with John Kerry and Bill Clinton, is a Skull & Bones member. Skull & Bones is one type of Freemasonry organization.

An interesting short story to look up if you have time is 'At the Tolstoy Museum' from the book 'Forty Stories' by Donald Barthelme. It is a satire, and it seems to go after similar behaviour. One picture has a caption that says something to the effect of "Leo Tolstoy at the Scene of the Disaster. Note Tolstoy's position in relation to the disaster." It almost looks as though Tolstoy had helped to cause the disaster by looking at his position in it, and that he was then one of the first persons to show up on the rescue scene.

Compared to the Kennedys, that is nothing. Papa Joe K. was a rum runner, Ted a murderer and obstruct er of justice, JFK and RFK had Marilyn Monroe killed, and more murders and so on. The Bushes are boy scouts compared to the Kennedys. Then, there is the cowardliness of Kerry. Lets not go there, not enough space.
