We eat 3 - 5 times more at every meal than the slimmer people in the world.

Our portions used to be lots smaller. Did you ever see a dinner plate that they used a long time ago in a restaurant? Tiny! Yet those people were FULL when they left the restaurant!

What are we going to do? Probably today we could order the kiddie-size portion and honestly be full. But that would be embarrassing, wouldn't it....besides, we wouldn't be getting our "Money's worth."
When did we start getting the Large Portions?

Good question. I am not sure, it seems it has always been that way in my life time. I can't even finish a "normal" portion and I never force my kids to "clean their plate" as a lot of parents do. It is really sad! You go to stores to buy kids clothes and it is hard to find slim sizes yet the "plus" sizes are everywhere! It is almost like they encourage us to be fat!

Eat what you want. I am personally one of those people that aren't full by a small kiddy portion. Unless I am sick. I am also by no means huge. I'm not sure where you go to eat but most places are skimpy for the amount you pay. I find the opposite, when I went to restaurants say 15-20 years ago, you could get a meal with all the trimmings and dessert. Nowadays it is much different, not to many quality meals out there that fill you up.

Did you notice that when portions got bigger, so did Americans waist line? There are more people obese now than ever before. And I think we have the highest rates for heart disease and some cancers, I wonder why that is.

Why not share the meal with a friend? Or eat it as your next meal? If you don't want to carry around a greasy bag, give it to a homeless person.

It's not the fast food places that make people fat - It's the people who eat there.

Yes, I agree here. I'm not sure when exactly "supersize" came into play. Americans are so overweight, so you would think they "supersize" option would be done away with.

No one says you have to eat it all. We get "doggie bags" and it becomes the next day's meal.
