Our brains, primitive as they are compared to some of the phenomena around us, must interpret the information it receives from the universe. Interpretation always leaves room for personal bias or even mistakes. To sense a phenomena is to make it your own and, because of the interpretation being from your unique perspective, it will be skewed to your personal interests.
The brain is quite a powerful creator. We cannot experience anything without it, but as we experience through it, it makes adjustments for personal perspective. Even your most base level of brain activity is still for the sole purpose of self-preservation.

Studies have shown that the brain runs a simulation of the universe around it. There is even a part of the simulation where you are simulating the brains of other people around you, so that the higher-conscious-you can get an idea of what other people are thinking.
This simulation can in fact make predictions about the outside world. With this simulation in your mind, it's possible for you to have a harmony with the world around you, to the point where you and world do what you expect each other to do, or at least in appearance. You have to remember that the world is changing your thoughts also, so it can appear that your thoughts change the world. If you try to manipulate this with your will then you can destroy the illusion, and disharmony can sometimes be worse then a negative harmony.
Positive and Negative are like magnetic poles. If you are filled with enough postive energy, it's hard for negative things to change you and you can even give postive energy to others. It's not easy to remain positive, and it may in fact be healthier to switch back and forth, sort of the way the magnetic poles of earth change every 1 to 5 million years, or in politics the way we switch between democrat and republican every once in a while, sort like walking with left foot and right food, rather then hopping on one foot all the time.

A start would be to say that to have both positive and negative thoughts you would need at least two thoughts, since a single thought cannot be both positive or negative. If you have two thoughts, then one, seemingly, would be better than the other, giving the effect of having a positive thought and a negative thought. It is, however, better to say that it is not possible to have either a negative thought or a positive thought, rather, all thoughts embrace a range of single thought, i.e.: thoughts are not just positive and negative but more positive/ negatives than other. For example you may have three thoughts, one being positive, the other negative, and the third being more negative. At the end of it all, your negative or positive thoughts are created internal from an exterior source and is entirely controlled by your own perception.

The universe seems controllable by your mind because you are a conscious, social being (as is any other human). You think, and your brain interprets, and you interact accordingly. The reason 'your world becomes negative' when you think negative is because your body and well-being are directly related to your state of mind. Meditation and relaxation is the key. Do some soul-searching, some self-reflection. Read a book or two about your emotions so you can better explain yourself and your feelings to others.
"Je pense donc que je suis."
I am because I think I am, I am because I know I am, I am because I am because I say I am.
"To be or not to be."
William ponders: Is is that we are, or that we aren't [and if we are] then who can prove if we are or aren't or that we're something else entirely?
I say we are the only answer.

I think next to the Internet, the brain is one of the scariest things,(this is sorta a inside joke, check my q&a to find out why), riddle me this do we control the mind, or does it controls us, our we individuals,if I want to look that way but my mind want me to look that way, which do I look? And to you question I say, just be possitive, radiate that possitive energy threw your life, and I dont mean those false smiles that say were binng possitive but were not, but the ones that see eveything as possitive no matter what, and smiles. The ones that when you go to the dr. and "he say well u have cancer, and your dead in a month", then u get up and say "well thats life for you, you did your best doc, i guess i will see you next month, and another thing your not getting paid for this.":)

i believe that the theory describing the universe is in our minds is 'solpsism' (wrong spelling prob)
but i beleive the world happens independantly of your mind, if you get out of your own head for a minute try noticing the positive things that happen independantly of your shity mood. Or likewise notice the shitty things that happen even if you are in a positive mood.
We can only influence our reaction to world events - but the events happen independantly-unless of course we actually do them.
i think therefore i am indicates that decartes defined humans as thinking beings.

I suppose everything is subjective. If you think something is good then it is. However, if you wish to test your theory select some parameters of good and bad and use them allways as your base to check against - they probably wont change even if your 'mood' does. But if it turns out you are Master of the Universe - Sort it out!

There is no inherent meaning in anything. Another way of saying it is "there is no is" anything. No good or bad, no right or wrong, no smart or stupid. These are assessments that we as human beings attach to "things". There is no "bad day" until you label the day "bad'. This was always exciting to me that I could "interprete" the world around by assigning language.

your universe might be controlled by your mind, but if you start to believe that "the universe" is controlled by your thoughts, then you might have schizophrenia. Joking aside, i do believe that reality is your dubjective perception--to a large extent, how you chose to define it.

if you think you can or can't your right. it's called attitude, like when you look at the cup half full you will see how much water you have left. if you see the cup half empty you will see how empty the cup is. It's all about perspective :)
