Of course there adds at the right side, but are they also included right between search results?

(Even if I set Google to exclude words like purchase, dollars etc. it still gives a lot of links to commercial sites which contain these words.)

Google assumes you are searching for something to purchase. That is the main point of the internet. When you search for something, it will give you the sites which sell what you are looking for that get the most hits. If you don't like the idea of a search engine giving you results oriented towards sales, then you need to fins a search engine more catered to the things you are searching for. Like Google has a video search engine, or an image search engine. You can even find websites which only include results about skateboards.

Of course they include ads when you search a subject and so does Yahoo. From Google it's called adwords and everytime you click an advertiser's link the advertiser is charged for the hit. Advertisers are charged different rates depending on the number of advertisers in a category and for how high up the chart they want their ad.

No. Read about their AdWords program on their website (go to About Google) - the advertising results are ONLY at the right side and the top "margin" of the page.

people pay to have their websites listed first in searches, so that would be advertising

Yep the highlighted and bold links (normally the first two or three at the top of the page) are ads.

You can pay to be on top if that's what you mean.
