Most probably the motherboard battery is weak. That tells me that this computer is at least 4 years old. Open your computer (after powering off) and find a battery affixed to the motherboard - possibly a button cell like CR2025. Replace this and it will become OK. This battery is avilable in most stores including Walmart and Best Buy.

Normally, having to reset the date every day, or being taken to the BIOS screen on every bootup, is an indication that the battery on your motherboard has died or the connection has been broken.
Yes, motherboards do have batteries on them, and yes, the batteries can go bad. If your computer is an older one, then it is almost inevitable. I have had to replace these batteries before, and it is not hard for a moderately computer savvy person. If you feel comfortable doing so, the replacement is not hard, and most computer stores will be able to help you find the correct battery.
If you want to replace it yourself, there are sites online with detailed instructions on how to do so (such as http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/81 ). If you do not want to do so, most computer stores can do it for you, or you can get a hardware-savvy friend to do it for you.

your motherboard backup/time clock battery is dead - just go to best buy/circuit city and tell them what you have and they will give you a battery for it. it is a simple change - open the case (power off first) pull out old one on the mother board and put the new one in. you will have to set the date one more time.
that will solve your problem

It sounds like the CMOS battery is dead or dying if it is not retaining settings. Time to open it up and take it out and get a new one from RadioShack.
