they will die if they would have been made up of organic materials. however, most robots (if not all), are made of different kinds of metal and alloys, which are not organic, so they can't die.
There's another scenario though. If the "divine providence" has issued a memorandum that every robot should become a mortal, then robots can die. but then again, I dont think DP can do that. i dont even think a DP believer could believe such a thing.

No. Their batteries occasionally need to be recharged, but they're essentially indestructible. Once the batteries are juiced up, robots can re-boot & are faster & more efficient than before.

A robot-less world is pretty boring, no?

no... i suppose not. they can run out of energy, or be destroyed, but as long as the central memory chip stays intact, the mind and memories can be implanted into a new robot, in reality the new robot would be the exact same model as the last. why is this question in friends? oh well, may the cheese be with you.

Yes. If they've achieved REAL sentience, I would not think that it is unreasonable to assume the can experience "death." But so far as I know, no robot out there has achieved anything beyond "appliance intelligence" as in embedded systems. Now the Science fiction character of HAL in "2001, ASpace Odessy," did have sentience... and yes, HAL could experience death...

?? They can stop working but technically you have to have been alive to die and robots aren't really alive are they.

Robots are never alive. They just are machines. They don't die they get deactivated.

i had a best friend robot... we always played together and I would talk to it and it would beep at me... we had so much fun. then one day it happened and his poor little metal heart broke causing all his gadgets and buttons and wires to crash... my robot died that day and I cried alot.

If something has never been "alive" then it cannot die. They can cease to function however, which is probably the electronic/mechanical equivalent of death (if it's irreparable).

I don't know my friend, but our friend seems to have changed his avatar from beyond the grave to symbolise his Crucifixion at the hands of Yahoo. I have no idea how he did it. Very moving.
